Saké Restaurant & Bar

Saké, founded by renowned Chef Neil Perry of the Rockpool Group, is one of the glamorous Japanese restaurants on the Southbank promenade. The two-storey restaurant overlooks the Yarra River and the city skylight. The stylish interior, funky music, friendly staff and eclectic modern Japanese food. It is one of my regular go-to Japanese restaurants in the CBD.

I love the super-fresh sashimi - Bluefin tuna, Hiramasa kingfish always my favourite choices. The grass-fed beef tataki with sansho, shiitake, wakame and shiso dressing is on point in textures and flavours. The tender duck breast with ginger and yuzu sauce and the shimeji mushroom, the lemony acidity from the yuzu cut through the heaviness taste of the duck meat. For those who love beef short ribs, the Cape Grim short ribs melt in your mouth. The sesame garlic sauce that comes with the beef is simply delicious.

As for the desserts, we ordered two desserts to share between the three of us. The salted dark chocolate mousse, caramelised white chocolate, sesame ice cream with crispy rice flakes and dark sesame crumbles is an enjoyable Asian flavoured dessert. The Nihon nemesis is another devilish dessert. A decadent dark chocolate torte topped with raspberry sorbet, honeycomb, matcha crumbles and raspberry coulis. The chocolate and berries combo always goes so well.

I hope you enjoy reading the review. Also, enjoy the delectable modern Japanese food at Saké. Bon appetit!
