Bistro Vue
Bistro Vue is a French restaurant located on Little Collins Street. It is the sister restaurant of Vue de Monde. Bistro Vue is where Vue de Monde used to be. I had a wonderful dinner here few years back... Chef Shannon Bennett's team provided a sensational degustation dining experience indeed.
It was a girlie lunch this time at Bistro Vue catching up with friends. As long as I walked through the glass door... memories flashed back how much I love the nostalgic chic French decor and ambience here. Friendly staff is attentive but not intrusive. The menu has a variety of seafood, meat and vegetable dishes to suit different dietary requirement. My girlfriend's teenage daughter is a vegan and there is no problem for the kitchen to cook a delicious pasta with truffle without any dairy product. No fuss, we were truly impressed. Here are some of the "non-vegan" dishes we enjoyed.
Kingfish, fennel & orange
It is a refreshing starter... the orange goes so well with the Kingfish. While the thinly sliced fennel and seaweeds added texture to the dish.
Moreton Bay bugs, brown butter & coastal herbs
The simple balsamic dressing and brown butter are the perfect complement to the seared bugs. These babies are deliciously fresh and meaty.
Pan-fried Barramundi fillet, mushrooms with Gascony butter
The skin of the fillet is so crispy while the meat is still moist and delicate. Again simple butter sauce and mushrooms are just perfect for the fish.
Roast pork, black pudding & prunes
Finally there is a meat dish... both my girlfriend and my daughter love this roast pork dish. Crispy crackling with the succulent meat. The velvety prune and Armagnac sauce (my guess) added a light sweeter flavour to accomplish the pork.
Charles Heidsieck champagne... girls love champagne anytime of the day!

Bistro Vue is a lovely restaurant for romantic dinner or catching up with family and friends. There are so many positive elements about this place... attentive polished staff, stylish French decor and ambience. Mostly important is the food... classic French cooking with high quality ingredients. Hope you will enjoy the French cuisine here... bon appetit!
